mediumMaking bread used to scare me, I always just went to the grocery store to pick up some naan before making Indian food but then started to read what was in the naan- tons of preservatives and ingredients I couldn’t pronounce! So, I decided to make my own. This recipe is SUPER easy and fast as there is no rising time, woohoo! I used whole wheat flour in this recipe, but it also works with all-purpose flour!
Ingredients
3 hyphen 5 cloves of garlic minced depending on how garlicy you want
1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup vegan yogurt i used harmlessharvest
1 tbsp vegan butter of choice optional but recommended to brush naan breads
Instructions
Step 1
-combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and yogurt in a bowl with a spatula. once mostly combined, use your hands to form into a ball.
Step 2
-place the ball of dough on a floured cutting board and cut into 8 parts. roll each of the 8 parts into small balls then knead a few times. roll them into naan shapes.
Step 3
-heat up a naan-stick pan (ha ha!) and place your naan on there for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form then flip.
Step 4
-immediately after, brush each naan with butter (or place a few small cubes on and wait for them to melt) and spread minced garlic over
Step 5
-enjoy!
