easyA flavor combo with the corn tortillas and the juicy flavorful chicken shawarma. Topped with some pickles and a drizzle of garlic sauce (toum). It is gluten free and much lighter on the stomach. And this garlic sauce recipe is way better than the store bought. It has no eggs. Very little oil. And extremely mild in flavor. I promise it wont give you a heart burn
Ingredients
2 tbsps corn starch
1 tbsp shawarma seasoning
1 1/2 cups of water
2 tbsps yoghurt
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 cups masa harina
3 garlic cloves
500 grams chicken breasts
1 tbsp ginger paste
salt
1/3 cup of water
2 tbsps olive oil
2 tbsps lemon juice
1 tbsp garlic paste
Instructions
Step 1
Slice the chicken into strips. and add to a bowl. all the yoghurt. seasoning. lemon and mix. set aside and marinade preferably overnight but 1 hour is ok.
Step 2
Mix the corn flour with the water and knead into a dough.
Step 3
Rest the dough for 5 minutes and cut into 8 balls.
Step 4
Use a plastic bag and a pan to shape the tortillas by gently pressing in the ball with the weight of the pan.
Step 5
Place the tortilla on a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes each side till nice and golden.
Step 6
Mix and corn starch and water and heat it till you get a very hard and dry dough.
Step 7
Add to a blender along with all the sauce’s ingredients and blend. thin it with water till you get the preferred consistency.
Step 8
Sear the chicken in a pan with a splash of oil on medium heat till the sauce thickens and the chicken cooks.
