TERIYAKI TOFU

Crispy tofu coated in a sweet, sticky and flavourful sauce. It’s one of those recipes you’ll come back to again and again.

Ingredients

1 tbsp cornflour

1/2 tsp sesame seeds

1/2 tbsp agave syrup

1 spring onion sliced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp mirin

1 tsp cornflour 2 tbsp water

1/2 a block of tofu 140g cubed

1 garlic clove minced

1/2 tbsp light brown sugar

1 tsp fresh ginger grated

1/2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 portion of rice

1/2 pak choi i fried it for a few minutes on each side

Instructions

Step 1

Mix all the ingredients for the teriyaki sauce, except the cornflour and water, together in a bowl. mix the cornflour and water together separately to make a cornflour slurry.

Step 2

Add the tofu to a container with 1 tbsp cornflour. put the lid on and shake to coat the tofu.

Step 3

Heat the oil in a wok over a medium-high heat. add the tofu and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. remove from the wok.

Step 4

Pour the teriyaki sauce and cornflour slurry into the wok. heat through for a few minutes until thick and sticky, then add the tofu back in. stir until the tofu is completely coated in the sauce.

Step 5

Serve with rice and pak choi, then sprinkle over the sesame seeds and spring onion on top.
