SWEET + SPICY GLAZED TOFU STEAKS

This might just be the tastiest tofu recipe ever. The tofu steaks are juicy on the inside but crispy on the outside with a sweet and spicy glaze absorbed all the way through for maximum flavour!

Ingredients

1 garlic clove minced

1 tbsp sriracha

1/2 a block of tofu 140 hyphen 150g

1/2 tsp sesame seeds

1 tsp rice vinegar

1 portion of rice

2 tsp dark soy sauce

1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry

1 tsp ketchup

1.5 tbsp maple syrup

100g broccoli

1.5 tbsp light soy sauce

Instructions

Step 1

Cut the tofu into 2 thick slices then score diagonally across both ways to create a criss-cross pattern.

Step 2

Mix the remaining ingredients together in a bowl, except for the cornflour and water. add the tofu slices and flip to coat them in the sauce. leave to marinate for 1-2 hours (or overnight).

Step 3

Preheat oven to 180c. transfer the tofu to a lined baking dish. pour about half the sauce over the tofu, then bake in the oven for 40 minutes.

Step 4

When the tofu is nearly finished cooking, add the rest of the sauce to a pan with the cornflour and water mixture. cook over a medium heat until thick and sticky (about 2 minutes).

Step 5

Serve the tofu steaks with some rice and veg of choice (i went for broccoli) and pour over the sticky sauce. sprinkle over some sesame seeds and enjoy!
